Why We Don't Stock White Gold: Safer Alternatives for Jewellery

At Fandom Regalia, we believe in creating jewellery that you can wear comfortably and confidently for years to come. That’s why we don’t stock white gold in our regular collection—except by custom order. Here’s why:

Most white gold in North America contains nickel, a metal that makes white gold appear brighter but comes with a big downside: nickel allergies. These allergies can develop through exposure, so wearing white gold that contains nickel can trigger a reaction over time. This is especially true for 10K white gold, which contains more nickel than gold. While 14K and 18K white gold are safer options, the risk still exists.

The safest bet? Nickel-free white gold, which uses palladium instead of nickel. Palladium is a rare metal related to platinum that creates a slightly greyer shade of white gold but is completely safe for those with sensitive skin. Palladium white gold is a more premium option, but it’s well worth it for the peace of mind and long-lasting comfort.

In Europe, nickel is actually banned from jewellery for these very reasons. At Fandom Regalia, we recommend 18K nickel white gold over 10K or 14K for those who still prefer the traditional bright white finish, but we stand by nickel-free options as the best for sensitive skin.

Additionally, we’re excited to offer Continuum Sterling Silver! This special silver alloy is tarnish-resistant and boasts a hardness comparable to 14K yellow gold. With over 95% precious metal content, it’s an affordable alternative to 10K white gold and traditional sterling silver that is nickel-free and stays brilliant. If you’re looking for a high-quality, cost-effective metal, Continuum Silver is the way to go!
